about

Eilidh is a BAFTA Scotland winning self-shooting documentary director who specialises in observational creative documentaries. Her films have been screened across the world in film festivals and broadcast, and have been used to influence policy and decision making both in the UK and internationally.

Eilidh is based in Scotland but works internationally as a freelance director, camera operator and editor. She has a particular interest in stories about the environment and social injustice but works with clients across a range sectors, from broadcast to brands and charities. She has a distinction from the Edinburgh College of Art’s MA in documentary directing.

She is confident working across a range of camera systems and can also be hired with an FS7 kit.

approach

Eilidh has had the opportunity to work in some of the world’s most extreme and beautiful locations, from the Amazon rainforest, where she lived for over a year, to the Saharan desert, the mangroves of West Africa and, of course, her native homeland of Scotland. She thrives in challenging environments and with challenging subjects (but is also quite happy drinking tea in the editing suite).

Having worked with marginalised and remote communities, Eilidh is passionate about ethical filmmaking practices and is a fellow of One World Media, an organisation that champions emerging filmmakers covering stories globally with creativity and integrity.

Of course not every project can or should take you to the edge of the world, but this philosophy of respect and empathy is a constant in Eilidh’s work and way of working, whether on a commercial or documentary shoot.

As well as filmmaking, Eilidh also facilitates Participatory Video workshops, a co-creative style of training focussed on marginalised and underrepresented communities.

She has carried out filmmaking and photography workshops with groups from the Bolivian Amazon to Glasgow’s East End. If you’d like to speak about a potential workshop then get in touch.
