Voices on the Road (documentary)
Deep in the remote Peruvian Amazon a road is quietly destroying a protected rainforest, causing conflict and fear. But for some indigenous communities, desperate for change, it also brings hope. The road is cutting through a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Manu Biosphere Reserve - and opening it up to the outside world.
Many indigenous communities are struggling to live in this 'paradise' and the road brings the promise of a better life. But at what cost?
Voices on the Road is a 23 minute documentary that explores the nuanced relationship between ‘progress’ and environmental protection and the role of populist politics in our decision making. It has been used to influence policy across the Tropics, screened internationally and is now available to stream on demand at WaterBear Network, the world’s largest VOD platform for films about the environment and natural world.
